Rejuvenated singer, 9ice Alapomeji, has cleared the air on a controversial comment he made about people of this generation not being ready for marriage.
He explained that his statement was most likely misunderstood as he was only pointing to the fact that women of today are no longer ready to play the inferior roles in marriage like their mothers played for their fathers adding that any man who was not ready to accept the changing times was not ready for marriage.
In a recent interview with Funmi Iyanda, 9ice said, “When I said that marriage is not for this generation, they said ‘aaah’ but I have my reasons. As a Nigerian, as a Yoruba man, there are some cultures and traditions that you are taught when growing up. As a man, you want the same thing from your wife but you are not gonna get it from today’s woman because we have exposure. They are the ones that sent us to school and I still want my woman to serve me food and kneel down, E joor (please) aunty, who’se gonna do that for me now?
“So we men of today need to get that into our thick skulls that we’re not gonna get the same thing your mom is giving to your dad. You’re gonna get something different because who you’re getting married to is quite different from your mom. But we are not ready.
That’s why you see marriages in this generation crumbling after just six months.”

The singer’s career has been rejuvenated since he made his full return to music after his unsuccessful experiment with politics.
